A Chestatee High School Spanish teacher and junior‑varsity boys soccer coach is being held without bond after Banks County authorities arrested him on a slate of felony sexual‑offense charges involving a relative, investigators say.
Felipe Esteban Nunez, 32, was taken into custody last Friday in Banks County and is accused of assaults that investigators allege occurred between 2018 and 2019. Hall County Schools has placed him on administrative leave and says it has no indication that any of its students were victimized. Nunez remains jailed on counts that include rape, aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery.
Arrest followed a report to Banks County deputies
Deputies arrested Nunez at his Gainesville home last Friday after the alleged victim reported the assault to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, according to FOX 5 Atlanta. Investigators told the station the incidents occurred at a residence in Banks County between 2018 and 2019 and that the alleged victim is a relative.
School district response and employment history
The Hall County School District told WSB‑TV it was notified of the allegations and immediately placed Nunez on administrative leave. The district said it has no evidence that any current students were involved. According to WSB, Nunez was hired by the district in September 2024 and is no longer employed there.
What Nunez is charged with
Banks County investigators have charged Nunez with rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and child molestation, according to reporting by NowGeorgia. Authorities have released few additional details and say the investigation remains active.
Legal process and penalties
The counts against Nunez are felonies that carry severe penalties under Georgia law. Aggravated child molestation can result in life imprisonment or a split sentence of 25 years to life followed by lifetime probation, per Georgia statute as compiled by Justia (O.C.G.A. § 16‑6‑4). Authorities have not announced a court date, and Nunez remains held without bond in the Banks County Jail, WSB‑TV reports.
