Clayton County residents are preparing for cold weather this weekend, with temperatures expected to drop into the 20s today. To help residents stay safe, several locations in the county will remain open overnight as warming centers, as per the Clayton County website.
Anointed Vision of Hope, located at 8049 Webb Road in Riverdale (accessible via MARTA Bus Route #191), will be open from 6:00 PM yesterday to 8:00 AM today. The Clayton County Police Department Headquarters Media Room at 7911 North McDonough Street in Jonesboro (MARTA Bus Route #198) will provide shelter today. These sites are available to residents needing a safe place during the cold conditions.
For those without transportation, local organizations Ujimay Way (404-267-1853) and Hearts To Nourish Hope (404-375-5341) will provide rides to the warming centers after 10:00 PM, with requests accepted via text message only. Residents are encouraged to use these resources and share information with others. Updates and additional details are available on the Clayton County website.
