What started as a Sunday dispute between Milford roommates turned into a full-blown emergency, after police say one man grabbed a kitchen knife, threatened to kill his roommate and the roommate’s family, and wound up in handcuffs facing a stack of felony charges.
Officers identified the suspect as 52-year-old Alexandre Leite of Milford. Police say the reporting party managed to escape only after a struggle over the knife.
According to a press release from the Milford Police Department, officers arrested Leite on Sunday at about 4:55 p.m. He is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), assault and battery on a household member, threats to commit a crime, and a warrant arrest. Police say he is being held on $10,000 bail, and list [email protected] as the public contact for inquiries.
Caller Tells Cops About Knife Threat And Struggle
As reported by Patch, the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call around 4:37 p.m. for an attempted stabbing at a Fells Avenue home. Officers who arrived at the scene found Leite there and say he initially told them no disturbance had taken place.
The reporting party gave a very different account. According to police, the caller said Leite grabbed a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill the caller and members of the caller’s family. The two then struggled over the weapon, and the caller was able to get away to safety.
Court Process And Presumption Of Innocence
Leite is being held pending arraignment in Milford District Court. The Milford Police Department notes that all of the charges are allegations that must be proven in court, and that bail status will be addressed at arraignment before the District Attorney’s Office takes up the case file.
