What Investigators Will Examine
At serious crash scenes, investigators typically map out vehicle positions, measure skid marks, photograph damage and debris patterns, and take witness statements to reconstruct what happened. If needed, they also review vehicle inspections, toxicology results, and any available camera footage alongside the physical evidence. Depending on how complicated the collision is, that process can run from a few hours to several days before officials are ready to release firm conclusions.
