
A predawn shooting inside a Dallas, Oregon home early Tuesday left one person dead and another critically injured, according to police. Officers forced their way into the residence in the NW Crater Lake Drive area, secured the scene, and had the surviving victim rushed to a Salem hospital. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police Force Entry, Say Everyone Involved Accounted For
Dallas police said officers were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the area of NW Crater Lake Drive between James Howe Road and Cascade Mountain Drive. After forcing entry into the home, they found one person dead and another gravely wounded, who was transported to a Salem hospital for treatment. Investigators say everyone involved in the incident has been accounted for and the case remains active and ongoing, as reported by KGW.
Multi‑agency Probe And Next Steps In The Case
According to police, the investigation is being assisted by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Polk County district attorney's office, the Polk County medical examiner's office, Dallas Fire and EMS, the Willamette Valley Communications Center, Salem Health and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Detectives are expected to process the home, review collected evidence and interview witnesses as they work to piece together what happened before officers arrived. Officials have not released the names of those involved, any suspected motive or whether anyone has been taken into custody.
Investigators are asking anyone with information or video related to the shooting to contact the Dallas Police Department. Authorities say they plan to release additional details as the investigation develops and when they determine it is appropriate.
