According to a report from FOX 5 Atlanta, the first call led officers to Meadowglenn Village Lane near Pleasantdale Road, where they discovered a car with multiple bullet holes and found a man fatally shot inside, with shell casings littering the area nearby.
Within an hour of the initial incident, another summons drew deputies to a small shopping center on Covington Highway. Arriving at the scene, which seemed to concentrate their efforts in the parking lot, details of this second incident remain scarce, with the DeKalb County Police Department continuing their investigation into the matter. It was reported that a second injured person was located on Aztec Road, although it is unclear if the two scenes are connected.
Moving on to the tragic loss, 11Alive confirmed the identity of the deceased teenager as 17-year-old Adrian Navarrete-Garcia, who was shot and killed last night at the Wynne Apartments on Meadowglen Village Lane. A portion of the apartment complex's parking lot was cordoned off with police tape, which also enclosed a wrecked red car within the cordoned area.
Neighbors recounting the incident to 11Alive said they heard sounds they originally mistook for fireworks, only to later recognize it as gunfire.
