A tragic event unfolded in the Lake Wildwood community of Bibb County this Tuesday morning after a deputy from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office attempted to serve an eviction notice, leading to a double murder-suicide. Deputies arrived at the scene at a residence on the 1100 block of Ridgeview Circle at approximately 10:16 a.m., FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Upon initiating the eviction process, deputies heard gunshots from inside the house, to which they retreated and called for backup. The ensuing response involved SWAT, hostage negotiators, and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, all converging on the area. Despite efforts, negotiators were unable to make contact with anyone within the premises.

Entry by SWAT officers just after noon revealed a grim scene: three people with gunshot wounds. The deceased were identified by authorities as 49-year-old Brande Summers and 21-year-old Haliegh Summers, pronounced dead at the scene. A man, 51-year-old Ray Summers, was found suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and subsequently died at a local hospital, as noted by the Bibb County Coroner's Office. It is believed by investigators that Ray Summers fired the fatal rounds deputies heard upon arrival, according to WGXA.

Further investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff's Office also confirmed with WGXA that the women were Ray Summers' wife and daughter. Additionally, two animals were found deceased at the scene. The Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to look into the incident, and anyone with information has been urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, reflecting the ongoing quest for clarity in this case.
