PDX Live is rolling back into Pioneer Courthouse Square this August for its fifth year, loading up a 15-show run over the first three weeks of the month and mixing indie darlings with marquee headliners. The lineup stretches from Ani DiFranco and hometown stalwarts Modest Mouse to Vince Staples closing out the series, with public tickets set to hit the market this Friday. Organizers say the goal is to pull evening crowds back into downtown while giving Portland concertgoers a broad spread of genres.
The promoter True West and Pioneer Courthouse Square have posted the full 15-show schedule and ticket links on the event pages, according to True West. The announcement lays out individual show pages and ETIX links for each bill, and organizers note that more special guests and local openers will be confirmed as the season approaches.
What's playing and when
Highlights include Ani DiFranco (Aug. 4), MUNA (Aug. 6), Suki Waterhouse (Aug. 7), The Hold Steady with The Mountain Goats (Aug. 8), Modest Mouse (Aug. 9) and Vince Staples (Aug. 20), among others, as reported by Portland Mercury. Several nights feature multi-artist bills or hometown openers, so there should be something to match most Portlanders' tastes on any given evening.
Tickets and presales
Public on-sale is scheduled for this Friday at 10 a.m. PT, with artist and promoter presales expected earlier in the week, according to PDX-LIVE. Each show will be sold through the listed ticketing partners, and organizers are urging buyers to double-check event pages for age restrictions and venue policies before heading down to the Square.
What it means for downtown
PDX Live launched in 2022 as an effort to bring nights back to downtown Portland and has since grown into a recurring summer fixture. Past coverage and organizer statements note that the series attracts large crowds and boosts evening foot traffic, according to Portland Tribune. Local business owners and city partners have often pointed to the concerts as a reliable source of midweek and weekend activity that helps nearby restaurants and bars.
Most shows take place at Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW 6th Ave, and the full schedule and ticket links are available on PDX-LIVE. We will update readers if additional local openers or date changes are announced as presales roll out this week.
