Five men were taken into custody at PortMiami on charges of drug possession and trafficking, as they tried to board the Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas for a cruise billed as the "world's biggest gay festival at sea." The Symphony 2026 event, organized by Atlantis Events, was scheduled to make stops in the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and St. Maarten during its voyage from February 1 to February 8, according to a report by NBC Miami.
The suspects, identified by NBC Miami as Joshua Eddy of West Hollywood; Hoi Dinh Le of San Francisco; Adam Jones of Atlanta; Brad Kloha of Nashville; and Joshua Jenkins of Tacoma, Washington, were flagged by trained security dogs at the cruise terminal during routine checks. Law enforcement officers reportedly found assorted drugs, including ecstasy, methamphetamine, and ketamine, among their belongings.
Details released by CBS News Miami shed light on the quantity and variety of narcotics allegedly in possession of the arrested individuals. Reports suggest that all suspects were carrying pill bags which were tested and came back positive for controlled substances. Aligning with the charges noted by NBC Miami, the men face a range of accusations from possession to trafficking significant amounts of MDMA, meth, GBL, and ketamine.
It appear unclear if the men were acquainted prior to their arrest, and despite the substantial volume of contraband, the amount did not surpass the threshold for federal prosecution. Hence, the drugs and suspects were handed over to local authorities – as per their arrest affidavits – for state and local proceedings.
