If you're aiming to become a member of the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District (FVFPD), you've missed your chance to throw your hat in the ring – for now. The deadline to submit an application for the firefighter/paramedic position was today,, with the window closing promptly at 3 PM. Those who managed to get their applications in on time can expect the hiring process to commence with an ergometric written test on February 23rd, as the FVFPD made clear in a recent social media update.
According to the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District, the process will continue with a paramedic practical exam scheduled on February 26, followed by a panel interview on March 2. But, as one might expect, securing a spot in the ranks of FVFPD is no easy feat. Candidates are required to be both Firefighter 1 & 2 certified by St. Louis County Fire Standards Commission, or to be part of the January 2026 class at St. Louis County Fire Academy, having a valid motor operations license dangling from their keychains.
The stipulations don't end there; applicants must also be 21 or older by the time the job offer is extended, hold state of Missouri Paramedic certification, and come equipped with ACLS, PALS, PHTLS certification – all before the job offer is made, and they must carry with them a CPAT certification. In addition, each applicant was tasked with submitting a valid Missouri driver's license, undergoing a police background check, and providing a driving record.
For those curious or looking ahead to the next recruitment cycle, the application can be found online or personally requested from the FVFPD's Administration Office at 661 St. Ferdinand Street, Florissant, MO, 63031 during regular office hours. The online application link, as well as additional hiring process details, was provided earlier today in the FVFPD Facebook post that declared "WeTakeCareOfPeople" in a show of community commitment and spirit.
