A former Xavier University employee, Samuel D. Terry, was charged with voyeurism and attempted voyeurism after being accused of secretly recording a student undressing in his office, according to WLWT. The incident reportedly took place on two occasions, December 5 and 6.
The student victim told authorities they had caught Terry in the act when they spotted and disabled the recording device. However, Terry allegedly reactivated the device once the student was out of the room, court documents revealed. Formerly the director of Xavier's "THR1VE Center," Terry's duties ended in December, as indicated on his LinkedIn page, noted in a report by WLWT.
Xavier University issued a statement specifying that no physical contact occurred between Terry and the student. The university also stressed their prompt action upon learning of the allegations, which included placing Terry on administrative leave, banning him from campus, and prohibiting him from communication with students, faculty, or staff, as mentioned in coverage by Cincinnati.com.
Search warrants led to the recovery of "several" videos corroborating the student's account, particularly the events of December 6. The university, which didn't initially inform the campus community to avoid compromising the active investigation, has expressed gratitude to the student who reported the incident and to the professionalism of the staff and law enforcement involved. Terry was taken into custody on February 4 and was scheduled for arraignment the following day, though his attorney's information was not listed in court records at the time.
