A west Georgia man is currently in custody on multiple allegations of child sex crimes, following coordinated efforts by local law enforcement. Charles Monfee Sr., a 58-year-old from Fortson, has been charged with a number of offenses including child molestation, possession of child exploitation materials, incest, and sexual battery.
Authorities from the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Group teamed up with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to effect Monfee's arrest on Tuesday, Fox5Atlanta reported. During the operation, Sheriff Greg Countryman said Monfee was taken into Muscogee County Jail without any complications, announced, and the investigation is being termed as ongoing, suggesting that additional charges may be forthcoming.
"We won’t stop until the criminals do," Sheriff Countryman stated firmly in remarks obtained by Fox5Atlanta. The emphasis from law enforcement signals a clear intent to continue pursuing similar cases with diligence and thoroughness.
While the sheriff hasn’t specified the number of potential victims, nor details about the evidence that led to Monfee's charges, the listed charges themselves paint a disturbing picture of the alleged crimes, as further detailed by WTVM.
