Dog Haus is on the way out and Slice House by Tony Gemignani is on the way in at Pacific Commons, with the chef-backed, fast-casual pizza chain lined up for 43456 Boscell Road in Fremont. Local franchisees Hersh Mahavni and Pritika Rajasanshi are listed as the operators, and the new spot is expected to serve the brand’s familiar mix of New York, Sicilian, Grandma and Detroit-style pies, along with pastas, wings and salads. It is another step in the chain’s quick Bay Area build-out.
Plans and permitting
According to What Now, the Fremont Slice House will take over the former Dog Haus unit at Pacific Commons and appears on a recent liquor-license application that pegs an opening for “the coming months.” The filing names Mahavni and Rajasanshi as the franchisees and indicates that the shop will serve both slices and whole pies in several regional styles. Those plans match the pair’s larger Bay Area strategy for the brand.
What to expect on the menu
Slice House launched in San Francisco’s North Beach in 2010 and has since grown into a national franchise operation. The company’s press materials tout dozens of locations in the pipeline and spotlight a lineup built around slice-friendly New York, Detroit, Grandma and Sicilian pizzas. The same materials emphasize chef-driven recipes in a fast-casual setup, with grab-and-go slices offered alongside full pies, pastas and salads. If other locations are any guide, the Fremont outpost is likely to lean on quick lunch service coupled with family-oriented pizza nights.
The space and neighborhood
The new restaurant is headed for the Pacific Commons shopping center, which lists the property on the center’s site at Pacific Commons, including the end-cap where Dog Haus previously operated. Dog Haus’ Fremont page still shows the address but tags the location as temporarily closed, and on-site signage at the storefront has been signaling that a Slice House is on the way. The center itself is in transition, with local reporting noting that a large H Mart is planned nearby as part of a broader refresh of Pacific Commons’ retail mix. More on that development is available from SFGate.
Local operators and opening plans
Mahavni and Rajasanshi, who grew up in the Fremont area, are part of a larger ownership group rolling out Slice House locations across the Bay. The team is opening a Livermore restaurant this Saturday, with Tony Gemignani scheduled to appear for opening-day festivities, according to What Now. That Livermore debut is set to feature giveaways and a raffle for free pizza for a year, a template that underscores the brand’s community-focused launch strategy. For Fremont, there is no firm grand-opening date yet beyond the liquor-licensing timeline.
We will keep an eye on the Pacific Commons build-out and permit activity for a clearer schedule and will update as more details shake out.
