Griffin police are searching for 35-year-old Carlos Elder after his girlfriend told officers she was held against her will and brutally attacked. According to investigators, she said she was forced to stay with Elder overnight before finding an opportunity the next day to escape and get help. Detectives have since secured warrants charging Elder with multiple counts linked to the alleged assault.
What police say
In a press release shared with FOX 5 Atlanta, Griffin officers said they were called on Feb. 10 to the Family Dollar in the 1600 block of North Hill Street. There, the victim told police that Elder had “struck her, choked her and bit her” during the ordeal and that she waited until the following day to get away and seek help, according to the release.
Investigators say they have obtained warrants for Elder on charges of aggravated assault involving strangulation, battery under the Family Violence Act, kidnapping and false imprisonment.

Police say Elder is still on the loose and should be treated as armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him or knows where he might be is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Griffin Police Department directly.

Suspect's past incidents
Public records and earlier coverage show this is not the first time Elder has faced serious allegations. In 2022, he was arrested after an incident that included accusations he assaulted an Atlanta police officer, according to WSB‑TV.
