
A burst of gunfire behind the ALDI on Northshore Boulevard in Slidell on Tuesday afternoon turned into a multi-agency pursuit that crossed into Mississippi, authorities say. Two people who allegedly took off in a U‑Haul were later detained near the Menge Avenue exit off I‑10. No injuries were reported, and the case is still under investigation.
What police say
In a Facebook post, Slidell Police said officers were dispatched after a report of a gunshot behind the ALDI on Northshore Boulevard and that the suspected shooters left the area in a U‑Haul before officers arrived, according to Slidell Police Department. The department said the U‑Haul was later found and that two occupants were taken into custody near the Menge Avenue exit.
Pursuit ended in Harrison County
According to local coverage, the van was spotted traveling east on I‑10 and officers initiated a pursuit into Harrison County, where deputies and other nearby agencies joined in. The driver exited south onto Menge Avenue near E North Street, and Pass Christian officers used a spike strip to stop the vehicle. The two occupants were then taken into custody and authorities reported no injuries, according to WLOX.
Investigation ongoing
Slidell Police say the department is working with law enforcement in Mississippi as detectives continue to dig into what led to the shooting and chase, according to Slidell Police Department.
