The neighborhood has seen multiple shootings tied to convenience stores in recent years. In March 2025, Action News 5 reported a woman was critically wounded at an EZ Express Mart on Dellwood and Steele. Local reporting and civil actions have also led to nuisance closures and heightened scrutiny of problem businesses in Frayser, according to a suspect killed and a Bartlett officer injured.
