A man was shot and killed yesterday in the parking lot of a southeast Dallas apartment complex, the latest in a run of violent incidents keeping police busy in that part of the city.
Dallas officers were called to the 200 block of S. Jim Miller Road just before 10:30 p.m., where they found a man in the complex parking area with a gunshot wound. First responders began lifesaving measures at the scene, then rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
String Of Violence In Southeast Dallas
The killing adds to a series of recent shootings in southeast Dallas. Earlier this week, police exchanged gunfire with a suspect at a Red Bird area apartment, leaving two people injured, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. That incident, along with other recent calls for service along the Jim Miller Road corridor, has prompted larger police responses in the area.
Detectives Hunt For Parked-Car Shooter
Investigators told officers they believe the victim was leaving the complex when people inside a parked vehicle opened fire. The vehicle sped away from the scene, and no arrests had been made as of Friday morning, per FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office had not released the man's identity.
Authorities are asking anyone with information, video, or tips to contact Dallas police or Crime Stoppers. Detectives say they are canvassing the area and reviewing surveillance footage as they work to identify the vehicle and whoever was inside it.
