
Gwinnett County authorities are on the lookout for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a 14-year-old with serious injuries. On the evening of February 11, a group of kids was riding motorized scooters along Hog Mountain Road, near Silver Crest Way, when the incident occurred.
According to FOX5 Atlanta, a gray Buick Encore GX is the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run. It seems to have recklessly sped past the group of juveniles before abruptly changing lanes, which resulted in the collision with the teen.
The victim, who has not been named, was urgently transported to the hospital with multiple broken bones. As of now, Gwinnett police have yet to determine the identity of the individual driving the SUV at the time of the accident. They have released a photo of the Buick Encore GX in the hopes that witnesses will come forward with information.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have some information regarding the incident or who recognizes the vehicle in question to promptly get in touch with the Gwinnett County Police Department at 678-442-5653. Atlanta News First reports that the police are asking for the community's help in bringing the responsible party to justice.
The search for the driver continues, and the hope is that with public assistance, the police can soon provide closure and justice for the injured teen and their family, as well as ensure the safety of other residents in the area by holding the driver accountable. In the meantime, the teenager is facing a recovery process for their injuries sustained during this grave incident.
