A 35-year-old man from the Tampa area has been sentenced to 18 years in Florida state prison after deputies said he trafficked large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine across Hillsborough County. Glen Booth Jr. was arrested on October 1, 2025, and later convicted in a case built by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office opioid investigators, who say the punishment takes a significant supplier off local streets.
HCSO Identifies Booth as Supplier
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, detectives with its Opioid Overdose Investigations Section identified Booth as a source of both fentanyl and methamphetamine and conducted undercover buys from him during their probe. Investigators say Booth sold large quantities of narcotics to undercover detectives before he was arrested on October 1, 2025.
Sheriff: 'Let This Sentence Send a Clear Message'
Sheriff Chad Chronister wrote in the social media post, "Let this sentence send a clear message: if you profit from poisoning our community, you will be held accountable." He credited detectives for their "relentless work to remove dangerous narcotics from our streets," according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Fentanyl Remains Central to Florida's Overdose Response
Fentanyl continues to be a leading driver of overdose risk across Florida, and officials warn it is frequently mixed into other illicit drugs. As highlighted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, state efforts rely on a mix of enforcement actions, drug seizures and expanded naloxone access to blunt the impact of synthetic opioids.
Prosecutors say Booth's sentence removes an active supplier from Hillsborough County streets while local agencies continue to pursue other drug trafficking networks. The Sheriff's Office shared news of the case on its social channels this week, casting it as another step in a long-running fight against fentanyl in the region.
