State Rep. Shane Lindauer, a true mainstay in Indiana politics, recently received accolades from the Indiana House of Representatives as he concluded his nine-year sojourn in public office. The Jasper representative, affiliated with the Republican Party, represented the constituents of House District 63 with what many deemed a dedication rooted in his upbringing.
"Being trusted by my community to represent them at the Statehouse has been one of the greatest honors of my life," said Lindauer, serving on the Dubois County Council before ascending to higher office. His tenure echoed his espoused values of faith, service, and responsibility, shaping the decisions that punctuated his legislative narrative – as he put it himself, "Every decision I made in this role was grounded in the values I was raised with." These comments were captured in the narrative of his service presented by Indiana House Republicans.
Lindauer's political journey began in earnest on November 1, 2017, stepping into the void left by Mike Braun, and extended through influential positions such as chair of the House Natural Resources Committee. Among his achievements were roles in the House Roads and Transportation Committee and an appointment to the White River State Park Development Commission, signaling his commitment to both infrastructural progress and environmental stewardship.
The retiring representative's accolades include the prestigious Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business in 2024, honoring his support for policies beneficial to local enterprises. With the drafting of legislation incentivizing the use of Indiana business resources by public contractors, Lindauer fostered an environment to encourage small business growth. Spotlighting a key legislative victory, Lindauer authored House Bill 1004 in 2021, a move that expanded the Hoosier Hospitality Small Business Restart Grant Program as a lifeline for entrepreneurs battered by the pandemic economy. As a testament to his commitment, the heart he put into these initiatives was captured in a statement, "This chapter of my life has been so incredibly meaningful," as Lindauer told Indiana House Republicans.
Beyond his political endeavors, Lindauer holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial supervision technology from Indiana State University and doctorate credentials in chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic. Balancing his legislative role, he manages an eponymous chiropractic practice. His ties to the community are not just political but personal; as a member of Redemption Christian Church, cub Scouts den leader, and a mentor to the young. Armed with the collective wisdom from his service and his hands steeped in the lives of the community, his parting marks an opportunity for more family time while remaining an active community servant.
