
The City of Lawton recognized employees and military personnel during its council meeting last Tuesday. Everett Bonine received the True North Award from City Manager John Ratliff for developing a more efficient system to organize and store materials used for the city’s Holiday in the Park event. According to a City of Lawton news release, the changes are expected to simplify setup and breakdown for the annual event and improve long-term operations. The award recognizes employees who demonstrate dedication and problem-solving in city services.
Mayor Stan Booker proclaimed February as American Heart Month, encouraging residents to focus on cardiovascular health and preventive care through physical activity and balanced nutrition.
Booker also designated last Tuesday as Fort Sill BOSS Day, recognizing the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers program at Fort Sill. The program supports soldiers through morale, leadership development, community service, and recreational activities.
