The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will hold a seminar for outdoor enthusiasts and hunters on March 14 at the Woodworth Education Center from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The seminar, titled Beyond the Stand: Reptiles, Amphibians and What Every Hunter Should Know, will focus on identifying reptiles and amphibians commonly found in Louisiana.
According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website, participants will learn to distinguish venomous snakes from non-venomous ones and understand the habitats of different species. The session will include a classroom presentation followed by an outdoor nature walk to practice identifying local wildlife such as snakes, turtles, lizards, frogs, salamanders, and alligators.
The event is free and open to the public. It is designed to help hunters better recognize and respect the wildlife they may encounter while in the field.
