The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested Lee County High School teacher Danielle Weaver on charges of child molestation and improper sexual contact. According to GBI's press release, the 29-year-old from Leesburg, Georgia, was taken into custody yesterday, following a joint investigation by the GBI and the Leesburg Police Department into allegations involving a juvenile student at the school.
The investigation began on February 3, when local police responded to a request from the high school. The subsequent day, GBI was called in to assist. Weaver, who had been identified the subject of the investigation and the victim as an underage student, was then monitored until arrest warrants were secured on February 17. The arrest occurred without incident at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information regarding the case to reach out to the GBI Regional Investigative Office or the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. This case's development highlights an unsettling breach of trust within the educational environment, one that has unfortunately become a too-common headline. The investigation remains active, and upon completion, the case file will be handed over to the Southwestern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
