A Malden public school employee is off the job and under scrutiny after what district officials are calling a “serious incident” allegedly involving a high school student touched off a police investigation.
Superintendent Timothy Sippel told families that Malden police notified the district on Feb. 19, and that the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave while authorities dig into the allegation. As of Tuesday night, there have been no arrests or charges, and officials are keeping a tight lid on details.
District Says It Acted Out Of Caution
In a statement to the community, Sippel said the district pulled the staffer from duty “out of an abundance of caution and to ensure our students’ safety,” according to Boston.com. Officials said the alleged incident happened outside regular working hours. The employee is assigned to Linden STEAM Academy, a kindergarten through eighth grade school, per Linden STEAM Academy.
