A violent event shook the South Shore community as a man was charged following a brutal knife attack at Steven's Lounge on Onset Avenue. The Wareham Police Department reported on social media that the alleged altercation occurred in the early hours yesterday, February 2, leading to one male victim suffering multiple stab wounds amid a chaotic scene at the bar.
Responding to a distress call around 12:38 am, local authorities — Wareham EMS and Onset Fire Department, alongside officers from the Patrol Division — discovered the bar in disarray with "large amounts of blood." They provided immediate medical aid until the victim could be transported to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, due to the gravity of the injuries. The suspect, identified as Alexx Rezendes, a 27-year-old local of Wareham, was apprehended later that same day, according to the official statement from the Wareham Police Department.
After thorough investigative efforts by both the Criminal Investigation and Patrol Divisions, detectives located Rezendes at his residence at approximately 4:36 pm. The arrest proceeded "without incident," as noted in the Wareham Police Department post. The charges pressed against Rezendes include Assault to Murder, Assault, and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He was held on a $10,000.00 cash bail and faced arraignment at the Wareham Fourth District Court today, February 3, 2026.
