A massive tree came crashing down on a northwest Atlanta home early Sunday while an infant was inside, startling residents and drawing a fast response from firefighters and utility crews. The tree landed on the side of the Overbrook Drive NW house and took down nearby utility lines. Family members and first responders checked on the child, who was alert at the scene.
What Firefighters Found
Atlanta Fire Rescue Department crews arrived Sunday morning and reported no injuries among the people inside the home. As a precaution, the infant was evaluated and then taken by family members away from the property for further checks while firefighters examined the structure for potential electrical hazards. The fallen tree had struck the side of the house and pulled down power lines, so crews focused on securing the area before any repairs could begin, according to Atlanta News First.

When a tree comes down on a house, it often drags wires with it, creating an immediate risk of electrocution. Big trees crashing into houses are an all-too-familiar problem across metro Atlanta. Authorities did not immediately identify what caused Sunday’s tree to fall, and crews remained at the Overbrook Drive home to deal with hazards and begin cleanup. Officials urge residents who encounter downed lines or serious structural damage to call 911 and contact their utility provider rather than trying to handle the situation on their own.
