A Stone Mountain shopping trip turned into a crime scene Wednesday evening when police swarmed the Memorial Bend Shopping Center following reports of a shooting in the plaza's parking lot.
SkyFox overhead footage captured the tense scene, with dozens of police officers and EMS clustered around a white sheet as part of the front parking area was blocked off by law enforcement.
Officers Swarm Scene As Investigation Unfolds
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officers were called to the 5000 block of Memorial Drive on Wednesday and could be seen carefully processing the scene. SKYFOX aerial coverage showed emergency crews concentrating around what appeared to be a covered person in the lot. FOX 5 reported it was working to gather additional information from authorities.
Shooting Adds To Troubling Memorial Drive Trend
The incident slots into a troubling pattern of recent shootings along Memorial Drive and at nearby DeKalb shopping centers that has neighbors on edge. Atlanta News First previously reported on a June 2025 shooting at a DeKalb shopping center that left one man dead and several others wounded, sparking renewed calls for stronger safety measures.
