Most of the day should stay dry and pleasant, but a slight chance of showers creeps in by evening, with steadier rain and a few thunderstorms possible overnight into Thursday.
Wednesday Night Into Thursday
Showers are expected to move in late Wednesday evening and linger into Thursday morning, with the best coverage generally along and east of the Mississippi River. Forecasters say total rainfall across the Mid-South will likely be light to moderate, roughly a quarter to a half inch in many spots, with slightly higher amounts in northeast Mississippi and lower totals in northeast Arkansas and the Missouri Bootheel. Plan on wet roads and reduced visibility for the Thursday morning commute. According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, new rainfall amounts may be under a tenth of an inch in some locations but could be higher where the boundary stalls.
Commute And Weekend Outlook
Damp pavement is likely to greet drivers on Thursday morning, but most of Wednesday's daytime plans should dodge the rain. Dry and warmer conditions return Friday with highs climbing into the upper 60s, followed by a jump into the low 70s on Saturday. Sunday brings a small chance of afternoon showers, yet overall confidence is growing for a mostly dry stretch that should hold through at least early next week.
