In a bid to better the commute for many Miami residents, officials announced upcoming construction at the Dadeland South Intermodal Station that will lead to a shift in Metrorail service starting February 23. Platform renovations demand single-track operations, alternating between each side, which will inevitably cause delays for the next six weeks as reported on by Miami-Dade County's official release.
The temporary change in service, which kicks off on Monday, will see platform work being carried out in phases, with each side of the station being closed for an estimated three weeks. Metrorail services will continue, but riders should prepare for longer wait times. Commuters hopping on from Metrobus, or Metro Express, should also anticipate and adjust for the increased travel time.
Commuters are not left without support, though. For those seeking more specifics about the single tracking or the renovation work at the station, contact details have been provided by the county. Sandra Antonio can be reached at 305-467-7911 or via email at [email protected], for those in need of information or assistance.
While the station renovation intends to create a smoother and more efficient transit experience down the line, passengers are asked to be patient during the construction phase. Even with crews working diligently through the week, weather conditions and, unexpected complications could extend the timeframe of the project as mentioned in the Miami-Dade announcement.
