The tranquil streets of Miami Beach were the scene of a significant narcotics operation takedown, with two men arrested for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The arrests, which took place at an apartment complex on 76th Street, were the result of an anonymous tip-off that triggered a police investigation initiating in July 2025. The two suspects have been identified as Richard Ramos Vazquez, 34, and Remigio Romero, 52.
According to a report by WSVN, the Miami Beach Police's Strategic Investigations and SWAT team had to forcefully enter the residence, with body camera footage revealing the tense moments during the night raid where the suspected dealers were commanded to promptly display their hands and not to move. Ramos Vazquez reportedly wept in court as his lawyer insisted on his good character, declaring, "My client is a lawful permanent resident. He’s resided in Miami-Dade County."
The execution of the search warrant led to the discovery of an assortment of narcotics, including ecstasy, methamphetamine, and cocaine. As detailed by NBC Miami, approximately 24 kilograms of 1,4-butanediol labeled as household cleaner, along with other substances ranging from crystal meth to ketamine and fresh cannabis, were seized by officials. This operation was deemed especially significant due to the proximity of these transactions to local schools and a house of worship.
Miami Beach Police spokesperson Christopher Bess underscored the gravity of the situation, conveying to NBC Miami, that the take-down was vital in ensuring "we were able to seize it before a child got it from a nearby school." He went on to stress that although arrests have been made, "This remains an ongoing investigation and our investigators and police department is going to continue to do whatever we can to ensure he never sells drugs on Miami Beach again." The arrested individuals now face a range of charges related to drug trafficking and possession with intent to sell.
Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones said the case shows how strong police work and teamwork between agencies help protect the community, especially young people. He also praised community members for speaking up, noting that an anonymous tip first led officers to Ramos. Officials said that public vigilance played a key role in the investigation and in ongoing efforts to keep drugs off Miami Beach streets.
