Screams, a single gunshot and chaos inside a Miami beauty plaza were all captured on surveillance video Friday after police say a woman's ex-boyfriend pulled a gun in her salon and shot her in the leg.
The victim, identified by authorities as Nayrelia Ramos, owns Nana the Stylist at My Suite Beauty Square. After the shot rang out, she stumbled back to her suite bleeding while clients and neighboring businesses ducked for cover, according to police. The accused gunman, 23-year-old Job Jocelyn, was later arrested and now faces attempted murder charges. He remains jailed without bond as the investigation continues.
According to Local 10, surveillance footage shows Ramos and Jocelyn arguing before he pulls a firearm from his pocket, points it at her head and then fires. The video shows Ramos bleeding from her leg and staggering back into her salon suite at the plaza near Northwest Seventh Street and 37th Avenue, while the gunman runs from the scene. Neighbors and patrons, startled by the blast, rushed for cover.
Earlier reporting by NBC 6 states that officers arrested Jocelyn after the shooting and booked him into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Citing an arrest report, the outlet notes that Ramos had warned Jocelyn she would call police because of repeated calls and texts. Surveillance, as summarized by the station, also shows Jocelyn placing the gun on the floor, then picking it back up and running off. NBC 6 further reports that a prior domestic violence investigation involving the pair had been closed and that Jocelyn had been served with a risk protection order in May 2025.
"It happened super quick. I was just trying to get him out," Ramos told Local 10. She said she showed Jocelyn her phone as she dialed 911 in hopes he would leave, but he pulled the gun and shot her anyway. Ramos is now recovering from the leg wound and told the station she wants the suspect to stay behind bars.
Charges and legal status
Prosecutors have charged Jocelyn with attempted murder and related counts, and he is also accused of possessing a firearm in violation of a protection order, authorities told NBC 6. Court records and jail logs show he remained jailed without bond after an initial court appearance. Investigators say the case remains active while detectives review surveillance footage and witness statements.
Risk protection orders and the law
Florida's risk protection order law lets courts temporarily bar people from possessing firearms if they are found to pose a significant danger, and it requires those named in such orders to surrender any weapons while the order is in effect. The statute makes possession of a firearm in violation of an order a felony and requires courts to enter the orders into law enforcement databases within 24 hours. As outlined by Florida Statutes, the law also spells out procedures for temporary ex parte orders and for hearings on whether to extend restrictions longer term.
