What started as a routine package drop-off in Moore on Tuesday night ended with gunfire and a wounded neighborhood dog, after a delivery driver allegedly fired four shots and sped away, according to witnesses. The dog survived, with both an entry and an exit wound, and is now back home recovering after a veterinarian treated the injuries, the owner says. Neighbors told police they heard several shots moments after a delivery and saw the person believed to be the shooter leave in a vehicle. Moore officers responded to the area near Fox Avenue and Northeast 19th Street and have launched an investigation.
Owner's account
Jennifer Brantly, who owns the dog, told KOCO she rushed home after a neighbor called and found her pet bleeding from visible bullet wounds. "The dog is fine, she’s still bandaged up," Brantly said, adding that the animal clearly has an entry and exit wound but is expected to pull through.
Brantly, who works as a delivery driver herself, said she understands that drivers can feel uneasy around unfamiliar dogs. Even so, she said the idea that someone would respond with gunfire in a residential neighborhood is deeply unsettling.
Police response
Moore police told KOCO that no arrests have been made and urged anyone with information to contact the department. Officers were called out after neighbors reported hearing four gunshots. One witness said she had been expecting a Walmart delivery shortly before the shots were fired.
Witnesses reported seeing a delivery driver walk back toward a vehicle, and then hearing the gunfire. The driver allegedly left the area immediately afterward.
