An unsettling discovery in Memphis's Hyde Park neighborhood has sparked a police investigation after a woman was found dead early Saturday afternoon, the Memphis Police Department said. Officers were called around 12:49 p.m. to the 1300 block of Hyde Park Boulevard for a report of a suspicious person and found the woman unresponsive when they arrived. Her identity has not yet been released, and police say they do not have suspect information at this time.
Police Probe Circumstances of Death
Detectives stayed at the scene into the afternoon, working to piece together what happened, as reported by FOX13 Memphis. The outlet reports that officers were initially dispatched to check out a suspicious-person call and discovered the woman deceased when they arrived. Memphis police told FOX13 that investigators have not released information about a possible motive or cause of death while the inquiry continues.
Recent Violence in Hyde Park
The Hyde Park neighborhood has seen recent violence in the last few weeks; Action News 5 reported a January 20 shooting in the area that left one person dead and another critically wounded. Authorities have not indicated that the two cases are connected, and the investigation into this latest death remains active.
