The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office has deputized 175 officers from 27 agencies across Louisiana to assist with security during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
Acording to the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, Sheriff Susan Hutson said the additional deputies will support public safety efforts throughout the Carnival season. In a statement shared on social media, she said the agencies are working together under one mission to protect residents and visitors.
The increased law enforcement presence is intended to address the public safety demands associated with large Mardi Gras events, including parades and celebrations across the city.
