Kyle Armstrong, 23, of New Orleans, has been indicted for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The indictment, issued on Thursday last week, states that Armstrong faces up to 15 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, and up to 3 years of supervised release, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana reported.

Armstrong was found with a nine-millimeter Canik Model TP9 SF handgun on July 19, 2025. He has prior convictions for Theft or Receipt of Stolen Mail Matter and Unlawful Possession of Postal Key from November 8, 2022, which prohibit him from legally possessing firearms.

The investigation was conducted by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Louisiana State Police. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a federal initiative addressing illegal firearms and violent crime. Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne of the Narcotics Unit will prosecute the case.
