Following a thorough investigation, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested a Nicholls resident on multiple counts of child sexual exploitation. Matthew Lee Sprinkle, 34, was charged with 10 counts following an inquiry into his online activities which began back in June 2025, after the GBI received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The tip-off about Sprinkle was concerning his possible involvement in the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material over the internet. A search of Sprinkle's home was conducted, leading to his arrest, as mentioned in a GBI statement. The operation was a collaborative effort with several law enforcement teams, including the Coffee County and Decatur County Sheriff’s Offices.
Sprinkle is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail, with the continued investigation falling under the scope of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. This task force is part of a broader national initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat the spread of child sexual abuse material and to protect young individuals from online predators.
The GBI's Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit emphasize the importance of public reporting in these situations. They urge anyone with information pertaining to incidents of child exploitation to contact them or submit details to the NCMEC’s CyberTipline. Anonymous tips can be provided by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), online, or through the See Something, Send Something mobile app, clarified in a statement by the GBI.
