A late Saturday night run to a North Memphis gas station turned deadly when gunfire broke out on Jackson Avenue, leaving a man mortally wounded and a 65-year-old suspect in custody, police said.
Shooting, victim and arrest
According to Action News 5, the Memphis Police Department said officers were dispatched at 10:08 p.m. Saturday after reports of shots fired at a gas station on Jackson Avenue. When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
Officers located a suspect at the scene and identified him as 65-year-old Floyd Davis. Police said Davis was taken into custody without incident and remains detained while the investigation continues.
