Oklahoma City Municipal Court is teaming up with Oklahoma County District Court for a unique opportunity aimed at helping community members resolve outstanding warrants without the added stress of potential arrest. On Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., individuals can head over to the Garden Oaks Community Center to participate in the Warrant Clearing Event. This collaboration is designed to assist people with clearing their warrants for issues like traffic violations and criminal misdemeanors, according to an announcement on the City of Oklahoma City's official website.
For those concerned about transportation to the event, it have been made clear that there are options available. Diversion Hub is offering rides, which can be requested by calling (405) 594-8843. Additionally, bus route 023 provides a convenient drop-off directly in front of the event's location. Both the Oklahoma City Municipal Court and the Oklahoma County District Court Clerk have outlined different procedures for this event, and interested parties should reach out to these institutions directly to become familiar with the specifics of the process, as detailed by the City of Oklahoma City.
As reported by the City of Oklahoma City's official website, OKC Municipal Court Administrator Mankinta Holloway emphasized the significance of the event. "This event exemplifies the commitment of the Oklahoma City Municipal Court and Oklahoma County District Court to promote public safety and community well-being by providing pathways for court patrons to resolve outstanding warrants," Holloway stated. The event represents a coordinated effort that includes a variety of local organizations like the Alpha Community Foundation and Arnall Foundation, among others.
For OKC residents, there's a financial incentive to take advantage of this event, especially for those with Class “A” tickets issued on or before Dec. 31, 2022. These can potentially be cleared at a fraction of the cost, which could turn a $613 speeding ticket into a more manageable $155 fee, per the same source. Clearing warrants not only settles past debts but may also pave the way to reinstating one's driver's license. For more information regarding individual cases or to explore available program options, the Oklahoma City Municipal Court's contact and visitation details are publicly accessible, and online payment options are provided on the City of Oklahoma City website.
It's important to note that the Oklahoma City Municipal Court offers various programs and services aimed at assisting the community in addressing their legal issues on a regular basis, beyond the scope of the upcoming event. These ongoing initiatives continue to ensure that access to justice is maintained for those who may otherwise be apprehensive about the prospect of arrest.
