The Pittsfield police are currently investigating a hit-and-run that resulted in a fatality late Tuesday night. The vehicle in question is believed to be a sedan, either a dark-colored Toyota or Honda, with the incident occurring between 11:33 p.m. and 11:49 p.m., as reported by The Boston Globe. After responding to a call at the corner of Linden Street and Francis Avenue, officers found the male victim, who was deceased on the road near 1350 West Housatonic Street.
Witnesses near the scene led the authorities to canvass the area, eventually locating the victim, an adult male, on West Housatonic Street near the Best Western Hotel, according to NEWS10. It is believed that the victim was struck and became trapped under the vehicle, then was dragged to the location where he was later found.
The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene and now, the Pittsfield Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward. Residents who may have seen the vehicle traveling on Linden Street, Robbins Avenue, Daniels Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Onota Street, South Merriam Street, and West Housatonic Street, or those who have footage from security systems, are being asked to reach out to the police.
