Memphis Police Department officers responded at about 2 a.m. to a shooting call on Dabbs Avenue near Orland Street and found two people who had been shot. Investigators were on the scene, and there was no suspect information available at that time.

Frayser context

The Frayser area has seen repeated shootings in recent months. In June 2025, Hoodline reported an incident in which a shooting hospitalized two people. The recurrence of overnight shootings has kept investigators busy across the north Memphis precincts.

Citywide trends

The Dabbs Avenue shooting comes amid a citywide decline in serious crime last year, according to the City of Memphis' Safer Communities Dashboard, which tracks homicides, aggravated assaults, and other incidents. City officials have pointed to 2025 decreases in several violent crime categories while emphasizing the work still needed to reduce neighborhood shootings.
