Oklahoma House Speaker Kyle Hilbert, representative of the Republican party, has secured his role once more as the speaker-designate for the House of Representatives' GOP caucus, according to an announcement on the Oklahoma House of Representatives' website. With no other candidates stepping forward to challenge him, his re-election was unopposed.
Hilbert, who resides with his family in Bristow, is prepping for what shall be his final term in his capacity as the top officer in the House. His duties include overseeing committee appointments, the flow of legislation, and the management of the House budget and staff. With the last name of Hilbert, he is also an ex officio voting member on all House committees.
"I am grateful for the continued support of my colleagues and the opportunity to serve during my final term in the House," Hilbert told the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He continued, affirming his determination to improve the state's standing, "We are not finished. I remain fully committed to strengthening our state and ensuring Oklahoma is an even better place to live, work and raise a family. I am eager to continue working with Pro Temp Paxton and Governor Stitt and I look forward to seeing the progress we’ve made over the past few years continue alongside whomever is the next Governor."
Hilbert's tenure as House Speaker has seen a focus on various initiatives, ranging from enhancing public education outcomes to tax relief for Oklahoma families. Having already served as Speaker Pro Tempore and vice chair of the House Appropriations and Budget Committee, since he was first elected in 2016 to represent House District 29, Hilbert is no stranger to leadership roles.
The formal selection of the speaker-designate is carried out under the majority caucus rules by the Republican Caucus during an election year, with the full House set to vote on organizational day when the next Legislature convenes. "Our caucus is unified and focused on delivering results for the people of Oklahoma in the 2026 session," Hilbert asserted, as he faces his final term with a determination to leave a legacy of progress and unity.
