Salem police are in an active manhunt for 62-year-old Daniel Ray Myers after a woman was stabbed multiple times following an alleged attempted sexual assault in West Salem on the night of Tuesday, Feb. 10. Investigators say the victim managed to escape, make it to a Walgreens in Keizer for first aid, and was then taken to Salem Hospital, while Myers allegedly fled and remains at large.
What Police Say Happened
In a Facebook post, the Salem Police Department shared photos, a suspect description, and a rough timeline. Police say the attack happened at about 9:00 p.m. on Feb. 10 while Myers and the victim were inside his vehicle. Investigators allege Myers drove the woman to a secluded area of West Salem, attempted to sexually assault her, and then stabbed her multiple times when she resisted.
According to the department, Myers is about 5 feet 10 inches tall and roughly 230 pounds, with a mustache and glasses, gray or balding hair, and blue eyes. Officers also noted he may have access to firearms.
How Investigators Say the Attack Unfolded
According to KPTV, Myers and the victim were making online delivery orders when he drove her to the secluded West Salem location. The outlet reports the victim persuaded Myers to let her go into a Walgreens in Keizer to get first-aid supplies. Once inside, employees called police, and officers found the injured woman at the store before transporting her to Salem Hospital for treatment.
KPTV also reports that Myers is believed to be driving a silver Honda Civic with Oregon license plate 241 NGP and that he left the area before officers arrived.

Detectives with the Salem Police Violent Crimes Unit are asking anyone who knows where Myers might be to call the department’s tips line at (503) 588-8477 and reference case number SMP26012142, according to KXL. Authorities are warning people not to approach Myers if they see him and to call 911 instead, saying he should be considered potentially armed.
Legal Status Of The Case
Police say there is probable cause to arrest Myers for attempted murder in the second degree along with other felony crimes, and the investigation remains active. Detectives have asked anyone with video or other potentially relevant information to contact the Violent Crimes Unit, and Salem police say further media or public inquiries should be directed to the Salem Police Communications Office.
