San Jose woke up under a gray, muggy blanket today, with temperatures hovering around 61°F at Mineta San José International and patchy fog clinging to low-lying neighborhoods. Overnight showers have mostly called it quits, but misty pockets and reduced visibility are hanging around through the midmorning commute, especially along valley streets and near the bay.
Afternoons Warm Up Through Friday
From here, the numbers only go up. Highs are expected to land near 71°F today, then climb into the low to mid 70s on Thursday and Friday, with light, mainly afternoon-driven winds. Overnight lows should stay in the 50 to 55°F range, and there are no watches or warnings posted for the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Foggy Mornings, Slick Commutes
The stubborn fog will be most persistent in South Bay valleys and other low spots, where visibility can drop and damp pavement may slow early drives just enough to make you late for that first meeting. Early flights at Mineta San José International could face lower ceilings and visibility, so building in some extra airport time would not be the worst idea. Hoodline tracked the same soggy setup in a piece on last night’s wet commute and the lingering morning fog.
Weekend Outlook
Looking toward the back half of the weekend, a weak, moisture-starved low is expected to pass well north of the Bay Area from Sunday into Monday. It brings only a slight chance of light rain and some cooler temperatures, and forecasters say it is unlikely to deliver rainfall totals close to meaningful levels. Count on a milder, mostly dry run through Friday, with the best chance for any light showers arriving late Sunday into Monday if current forecast models hold up.
