Residents of Saint Louis County are facing upcoming service disruptions due to budget cuts approved by the County Council. Sam Page announced on Wednesday that several county services will be reduced as a result of decreased funding, noting that the cuts were necessary due to budget constraints.

The West County Government Center is scheduled to close by February 27, affecting services for residents. Those needing assistance with tasks such as property tax payments or Senior Tax Freeze applications will need to visit one of the three remaining locations: the Clayton headquarters, Northwest Crossings, or South County government buildings.

Beginning February 17, the three remaining service locations will reduce their in-person hours, closing to the public at 3:30 p.m. Sam Page said the change is due to a $2 million reduction in the Department of Revenue’s budget, noting that the shorter hours will help manage security costs and limit overtime in the department, according to St. Louis County.

In addition, in-person applications for the Senior Tax Freeze will be accepted only Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for staff to review and process submissions. Residents can still apply online through the County’s website, ensuring continued access to the program.

The Parks and Recreation Department will also be affected by the budget shortfall. This summer, the pools at the St. Vincent Community Center and Kennedy Recreation Complex will remain closed due to insufficient funds for necessary repairs. Maintenance efforts will instead focus on parks and other facilities, including the North County Recreation Center pool and the Pavilion at Lemay, which have historically seen higher usage.

Residents will need to adjust their schedules as county buildings implement new hours, with in-person services available from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Clayton Government Headquarters (41 South Central Avenue), Northwest Crossings (715 Northwest Plaza Drive), and South County Government Center (4554 Lemay Ferry Road).
