Soup dumpling fans in the Valley just got the date they’ve been waiting for. Din Tai Fung, the Taiwanese restaurant chain famed for its soup dumplings, will open its first Arizona location at Scottsdale Fashion Square on April 20. Reservations for the debut are set to go live this Thursday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m., according to the company, adding another headline-grabbing restaurant to the mall’s expanding south wing.
What the Scottsdale dining room will look like
The Scottsdale restaurant will span roughly 10,000 square feet on the mall's lower level, next to Catcha and Élephante, and will be built around Din Tai Fung's signature dumpling-expo kitchen and a full bar. Design firm Rockwell Group is handling the space, and renderings show a sweeping curved façade, a dramatic central tree installation and seating for about 340 guests. Din Tai Fung has confirmed April 20 as the restaurant's official opening date and says online reservations will go live at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26. Din Tai Fung traces its roots to Taipei and first expanded to North America around 2000 in Arcadia, California, growing into an international chain known for meticulous technique and consistency. Hoodline first reported the Scottsdale lease in 2024, and Phoenix New Times later confirmed a target spring 2026 opening for the mall location. Chandler Fashion Center's directory lists Din Tai Fung as “coming soon,” and local reporting says that second Valley outpost is expected in 2027 as part of a larger dining-area revamp, according to ABC15.
