In conjunction with the school closures, a news release from the city of Springfield advised the public to avoid the downtown area, highlighting specific streets near the Police Department and Courts to eschew due to traffic impact from ongoing safety concerns, the nature of these concerns remains undisclosed by the authorities involved.
