St. Charles County residents interested in law enforcement can now enroll in an advanced program offered by the Sheriff’s Office. Following the basic Citizen Police Academy, Police Academy 2.0 is a 13-week course that provides a more in-depth look at the department’s operations.

The curriculum covers topics including the Sheriff’s Department’s work with the Department of Corrections, the Prosecuting Attorney, the Public Defender, and the areas of Probation, Parole, and Juvenile Justice. Participants will also have the opportunity to tour the Missouri Supreme Court in Jefferson City. Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday nights from March 17 to June 9, 6–8:30 p.m., according to St. Charles County.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, reside in St. Charles County, hold a valid Missouri driver’s license, and have completed a basic Citizen Police Academy in St. Charles. A background check is required. The application deadline is February 16, and additional information is available on the Sheriff’s Office website.

The St. Charles County Police is also offering a 13-week Citizens Academy focused on county police operations. Running annually from March 5 through May 28, the program covers patrol operations, investigations, specialized units such as SWAT and the Aviation Unit, and a tour of the Police Crime Lab. Applications are open until February 10, with more information available on the County Police website.
