A routine traffic stop near Oak Harbor and I-10 turned into quite the felony bust Tuesday night for St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office when they pulled over a red Nissan Versa containing four individuals and a trove of illegal items. According to a Facebook post by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, detectives with their Proactive Enforcement Unit and Narcotics Division discovered four illegal firearms inside the vehicle, one of which, a Glock 19, had been reported stolen out of Jefferson Parish.
The cache recovered from the vehicle did not stop at firearms. The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office detail also found a .223 style pistol modified to function as an automatic weapon, marijuana, a device for cloning automotive smart keys complete with remote fobs, and transponder chips. Items associated with burglary such as ski masks, gloves, goggles, and a window punch were also among the seized articles signifying that, these items were not gathered haphazardly but with intention.
The occupants of the car, identified as Dakari Williams, 23, from Slidell; Lavonte Price, 18, from New Orleans; Aalijah Lyons, 17, from New Orleans; and a 16-year-old juvenile also from New Orleans, now face multiple felony charges. Their list of charges includes possession of illegal automatic weapons, possession of stolen firearms, narcotics violations, among other criminal offenses.
When Williams arrived at Club St. Tammany—a moniker used by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office for their detention center—he was found to still be in possession of Tapentadol tablets, a Schedule II narcotic known for its high potential for abuse. It was a bold move, to add another charge to his already extensive list. The adults were booked into Club St. Tammany, while the juvenile was transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
heir message to the public was clear: if you're carrying around serious weaponry and equipment for theft in Slidell, rest assured the local law enforcement is out there too, keeping a watchful eye. #ClubStTammany #ProactivePolicing #FelonyStarterPack #ChoicesWereMade #NoneOfThemGood
