The City of Sterling Heights will hold a public discussion on March 17, 2026, during its 7 p.m. City Council meeting regarding the proposed purchase of a 13.75-acre property at 37217 Utica Road near Rotary Park.
According to a City of Sterling Heights announcement, the property includes about 1,000 feet of frontage along Utica Road. The Sterling Heights Department of Parks and Recreation plans to apply for funding through the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund to cover the market value of the land. The grant would require the city to provide 30 percent of the total project cost.
If approved, the property could be added to Rotary Park to expand public green space. The meeting will take place at Sterling Heights City Hall, 40555 Utica Road. Residents who cannot attend may submit comments to the Parks and Recreation Department.
