
Last night, an officer-involved shooting ended fatally for a man in his 60s after a vehicle chase by St. Louis County Police. The incident transpired around 11 p.m. in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood at the intersection of N. 2nd Street and E Grand Avenue. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, county officers were engaging a suspect wanted in connection to a previous shots fired event in St. Louis County. During the confrontation, the suspect, reported to be armed, was shot and later pronounced dead at the scene. No injuries to St. Louis County Police Officers were reported. The suspect's firearm was recovered from the shooting site, SLMPD officials state.
The SLMPD's Force Investigation Unit is now meticulously handling the investigation into the shooting, a standard procedure when a law enforcement encounter in the city results in death or severe injuries.
